Svay Rieng aiming to rein in Boeung Ket

This week’s Metfone C-League action centres around a high-intensity contest between table-topping Boeung Ket Angkor and visiting PKR Svay Rieng at the Olympic Stadium on Saturday.

Both sides are coming into this game on the back of big margin victories in the Cup ties against provincial sides, but the onus is clearly on Svay Rieng, five points back in third, to claw back Boeung Ket – who are level in the standings with Ministry of National Defence, both on 18 points from seven games, but way ahead of the Army on goal difference.

A narrow loss to Phnom Penh Crown in the first week of this month has left PKR looking for a turnaround and nothing would boost their morale more than a positive showing against a well-organised Boeung Ket unit under the care of head coach Prak Sovanara.

Sunday’s main focus will be on the clash between National Police and NagaWorld. A 2-2 draw in a friendly last week with Phnom Penh Crown should instil some optimism in the Police’s ranks as they work to turn around a spell of disappointing results both in the Cup and the League.

Naga head coach Meas Channa will be looking to get back to winning ways after a 1-1 draw with Cambodia Tiger before the break for the King’s birthday celebrations.

Six time Champions Crown host bottom-of-the-league Asia Europe United at the RSN Stadium, while Army take on CMAC United at Old Stadium.

Cambodian Tiger FC and Western Phnom Penh get the round of fixtures up and running in the early game on Saturday at Olympic Stadium.
